  • 12th August 2024, National Safety Campaign- Lifting Operations & Exclusion Zones

An exclusion zone is a designated area surrounding a hazardous operation or equipment, such as cranes, within which access is restricted to authorised personnel only.
The primary purpose of an exclusion zone is to protect workers and the public from potential hazards associated with construction activities, particularly those involving heavy machinery and lifting operations.
Exclusion zones should be established around cranes and adjoining areas to stop people entering the area and risk being injured by the crane or falling objects. Exclusion zones should also be considered when lifting near overhead powerline, these are also referred to a no-go zones.
